An Accessible World for Everyone – accessiBe

There are many things that the majority of us take for granted each and every day. One of those things is the internet. It wasn’t really that long ago that no one knew what the internet was, not that long ago that it didn’t even exist. And yet, look at us all now. Where would we be without the internet now? We use it for everything. We have so much information at our fingertips. We can keep right up to date with the latest news and developments from all around the world. We can book our next holiday with the family or plan a day out with friends. And many of us rely on the internet for our businesses or to do our jobs. But for some of us, having all this information right there only leads to frustration because it is still inaccessible. Thankfully, companies like accessiBe have seen this issue and taken steps to make things right.

But what exactly is the problem? You may think that the fact that the internet exists, that everything is available right there in your hands without you even having to move, means that it is a win for those with accessibility needs. While that may be the case for some, it is certainly not the case for all. For some, a disability is not a mobility issue. It could be that they have a visual impairment, and the problem is that they cannot read the small writing on our website. Or it could be that some cannot see or understand and process any images they see on our website. Some may not be able to hear any videos or voiceovers. Some may be unable to use a mouse, but your site may be set up where a mouse is necessary to navigate it. These are just a few of many potential issues. But are you starting to get the point? There is much to consider in making a website accessible.

But don’t let this overwhelm you. Let me reassure you that this doesn’t have to be the mammoth and costly task you are probably thinking it is right now. As mentioned earlier, there are companies tackling this problem head on. They have software that can be added to your website which will then search for any potential accessibility issues and fix them for you. That’s right, the work is done for you. And it is very cost effective and quick to do it. Yes, you could have your website accessible within a few days.
