Despite Unavailability Of Networks How, 5G Phones Are Growing In India

The number of 5G phones in India has increased in multitudes recently. The Quarterly Mobile Phone Tracker report by The International Data Corporation has said that Indians bought a total of 3 million 5G mobiles in 2020. Although the general mobile phone sales have decreased by 1.7 %, the 5G mobile phone sales are booming.

Companies like Oppo, Vivo have offered a 5G phone under 15000 for the first time. Priya Singh, an analyst from Industry Intelligence Group, has remarked that after the COVID-19 crisis lifts, India’s digital economy will grow at a higher rate, and entry-level smartphones with 5G services will create a space of their own.

Before we proceed to further discussion, we need to know the difference between 4G and 5G.

The 5G or Fifth-generation network is the latest spectrum of wireless connectivity. It is 100 times quicker than 4G. This means you will be able to download files of 1GB in seconds, whereas it takes several minutes to complete in 4G. Another advantage of 5G networks is that the latency will decrease. This will enable you to connect different IoT devices to your phone, and the connected devices will be operated seamlessly.

Most Indian mobile users have access to 4G networks, and although widely used, 4G networks are not available at every place in India. So why are 5G phones created then? The reason is simple. All the brands are targeting to capture the market beforehand. The first 5G phone in India, RealMe X50 Pro 5G, was released in March 2020. The very next day, IQ00 released their own 5G phone. Since then, every leading smartphone company has jumped on the bandwagon to capture a share in the market before the 5G boom.

Rushabh Doshi, an analyst from the research firm Canalys, says that there was also scepticism when 4G networks were rolled out. He went on to say that Samsung offered 4G phones before there was a 4G network in India. The phones were marketed as 4G ready or LTE enabled back then. Now the buzzword has become 5G ready. The dynamic developments in technologies are the critical reasons for this development.

Many experts have also said that 5G mobile in India is a gimmick and a marketing tool to attract young users. Although it is a general move towards the next level of super-fast networking, many think this is a new and innovative way to increase sales.

Madhav Sheth, head of RealMe’s India business, has refuted the claims that 5G is a marketing buzzword. According to him, this new development will penetrate the premium mobile section. For a long time, this section has been led by Samsung, Oneplus, and Apple. Now the other brands can also enter this section and market their products. The Realme X50 Pro 5G costs around Rs.40000, relatively high compared to other Realme products.

Madhav also said that they are hoping the users will like X50. The 5G territory is still unexplored, and this same product can change the whole story for Realme. Smartphone users can expect cheaper 5G mobiles in the coming years.

Brands like IQ00, Vivo are planning to roll out various 5G phones under the bracket of Rs.15000 by CY 2022. This will strengthen their market share of 5G mobiles by 30-32 % in the upcoming years, as predicted by many experts. Let’s look at some of the 5G phones available in the market and their features already.
